CDL Class A Training
Class Length: 120 Hours

Certificate Issued: Upon Completion of the Course
Description: Commercial Driver License Course 120 hour Class A program for those who currently hold a Commercial Learner Permit (CLP) and two year DOT Medical card.
Class A programs include:
- FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) rule training.
- FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) level one inspection guideline training.
Daily classes are 8 hours in length, with 6 hours of field training and 2 hours of classroom training.
Graduates receive a Class A CDL from the State DMV.
Successful completion of the program qualifies graduates to work in an entry-level driver position.
Course Overview
- Week One:
- Comprehensive field training for Pre-Trip, Basic Skills, and Road Tests
- Introduction: Review of License Qualification and Restriction. Course schedule with starting times, expectations, etc.
- Vehicle Inspection: Complete review of items with safety aspects and criteria which the student is expected to know.
- Basic Skills: The student is instructed on the basic skills needed to successfully drive within confined areas, proper techniques for an alley-dock and parallel park
- Log Books: All aspects of rules under FMCSR 395
- Roadside Inspections and how to successfully pass the inspection
- Alcohol & Drug Testing: What drivers need to know
- Week Two:
- Continuation of week one on all aspects of the safe operation of a CMV
- Defensive Driving
- Reasonable Suspicion testing for Supervisors
- CMV Entry Level Driver
- Week Three:
- Continuation of week two on all aspects of the safe operation of a CMV.
