This course will introduce students to basic words and phrases with some emphasis on writing in order to get around Japan more easily. In addition, we will be discussing cultural norms and cultural practices that tourists should grow accustomed to in order to "fit in" in Japan during their stay.

Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:
  • Express themselves coherently in travel situations
  • Comprehend written and spoken Japanese at a " novice level” Japanese question and answers
  • Travel through Japan with basic understanding of situational dialogue
  • Travel through Japan with a basic understanding of the culture and traditions
