Learn the fundamentals of fine art digital photography, including camera equipment and software used for image capture, management and manipulation. Topics include camera settings and exposure control, composition, working with light and time, and creative image manipulation.

This class is being offered to both credit and non-credit students. All students will follow the same curriculum and complete the same projects. Attendance is essential not only to the learning environment but for the community of the classroom experience for all students.

This class follows the syllabus for ART 1401: Digital Photography I.

Students will receive access to D2L, the online learning platform associated with this class, 3-5 business days before class.


Students should provide their own camera or speak with the instructor about loans. Interchangeable lens camera strongly encouraged, so you can receive the most out of this course – DSLR or Mirrorless variations OK. Storage media for camera, photos required.
