Pursue a career as a professional dog trainer!
Through classroom and hands-on practice, you'll learn how to help the pet dog community understand their dogs and how to best nurture them for long-term companionship. Focus will be on canine body language, communication, behavior modification, dog training techniques, learning theory, how to coach humans, and different career options.
Created by Angela Murray CBCC-KA, UW-AAB, and offered exclusively by Continuing Education at Aims Community College, this two-semester program prepares you to take the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers (CCPDT) exam. CCPDT is the leading independent certifying organization for the dog training profession.
This program runs over the course of two semesters.
Students will be required to complete a Volunteer Waiver for the Animal Friends Alliance prior to beginning the hands-on practice portion of the course. Students will be required to attend evening lecture classes and should plan to attend the hands-on labs on Fridays and Saturdays.
